A postpartum doula is a female that is trained in postpartum adjustment, newborn characteristics, care, feeding and development. She also promotes parent-infant bonding in a non-judgmental way by offering loving support and companionship, in person or over the phone to the mother or partner of the new baby. By mothering the mother, the doula enables the new mother to recover from pregnancy and birth so that the mother can focus her energy on bonding with the baby …..

My knowledge of the changes that come with a new baby from my extensive training and from my own experiences as a new mother twice, enables me to enhance communication both within your family and with other support professionals acting as a buffer from friends or family that might offer unsolicited and possibly outdated advice to yourself or your partner possibly causing confusion and distress.
By modeling respect for the wisdom and decision making abilities of you as the new parents, I will support you with your own choices to create the best possible result.
My non-medical support meets the practical every day and psycho-social needs of the family.
My role as your doula is also available to make referrals to quality care providers such as lactation consultants, pediatricians, counselors and support groups if needed.
Through my kind and loving support that I am able to help yourself and older children integrate the baby into your family in a gentle manner.
